Michelle made her first appearance as an Oscar presenter at the 73rd annual Academy Awards which was held at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium Sunday night, March 25, 2001. Michelle and Chow Yun-Fat presented the Best Visual Effects award together.

"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" received 10 oscar nominations including Best Picture, and went on winning 4 of them: Best Foreign Language Film, Best Cinematography, Best Art Director, and Best Music Score.
