Michelle was conferred the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) award by the Sultan of Perak
in conjunction with his 73rd birthday. The award carries the title "Datuk", a knight-like title which is
the second-highest that can be conferred by anyone other than Malaysia's king.

The Datuk Paduka Makhota Perak is a title awarded by the Perak state ruler Sultan Azlan Shah, usually in conjunction with his official birthday. Recipients of the title are allowed to use the honorific Datuk before their names. Datuk literally means Grandfather in the Malay language. The title is somewhat equivalent to the English title of 'Sir' awarded by the Queen of England.

Perak is the state where Michelle is from.
