Avenue of Stars Hand Imprint Ceremony
January 5, 2004, Hong Kong
The Avenue of Stars, modelled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, is located along the
Victoria Harbour waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It honours
selected Hong Kong film professionals through a display of their hand
imprints and signatures.
The avenue was opened to the general public on 28th of April 2004.
It originally featured over 70 handprints from stars picked by Hong Kong
Film Awards Association. It is now a tourist attraction in Hong Kong.
On January 5th, 2004, Michelle, together with director John Woo and actress
Yu So-Chow (a.k.a Yu Suqiu), attended the Hand Imprint Ceremony for the
Avenue of Stars.
It was an emotional moment since Anita Mui, a sister-like friend of Michelle's,
who just passed away a week before the ceremony, was supposed to be one of the
honorees as well and she had already accepted the invitation. When Anita's name was
mentioned, Michelle lowered her head and quickly put her sun glasses
on. Still, she was wiping her tears and even had to leave the stage for
a short time...
