Summery:
The spinoff is set to focus on a continuation of Captain Philippa Georgio's (Yeoh) Discovery Season 2 adventures in Starfleet's Section 31 division.

Synopsis:
A spinoff featuring Captain Philippa Georgiou of the USS Shenzhou, in a brand-new series surrounding Section 31, a highly secretive division of Starfleet Intelligence specializing in espionage. Section 31 is an autonomous organization that was established since the beginning of Starfleet, with no oversight or accountability that operated with the purpose to protect the security interests of United Earth/the United Federation of Planets. Sharing many parallels with the Romulan Tal Shiar and Cardassian Obsidian Order, this collection operated independently without Starfleet's knowledge or consent, despite being under the Federation's jurisdiction. Some of Starfleet's top commanding officers were aware of Section 31's existence, where the department's well-placed agents spread throughout almost every level of civilian Federation government and Starfleet's command structure could neutralize any targets without the risk of any public exposure.

(04/18/23) Paramount+ today announced it has officially greenlit Star Trek: Section 31 starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh. In this special original movie event for the service, Michelle will return to her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she first played in Star Trek: Discovery's first season.

In Star Trek: Section 31, Emperor Philippa Georgiou joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and faces the sins of her past. Produced by CBS Studios, production will begin later this year.

No one in the history of histories has lost more than Philippa Georgiou, ruler of the Terran Empire.   Deadline: Based on the way the first season of Discovery ended, is there a Trek series with Michelle Yeoh in the works?
  Julie McNamara (programming chief for All Access): We've really talked about virtually all of the characters who popped in Discovery as potential spin-off shows. It's obviously very much driven by our conversations with Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout and the other creators involved. I wouldn't say at this point that we are actively pursuing a Michelle Yeoh series but it has been discussed.
